*Detective Mode Activate*

Alright, so I'm starting off my research with the Quiet, because I'm still thinking about Marianne and Neil. I found the blog "And When the Sky Was Opened" (found here). It seems to support my "slowly fading" theory. It seems like the people in that blog disappeared fairly quickly too, and more of them. And the notebook disappearing but the blog staying in tact makes me think that everything that was directly linked to the person disappears, but not things made by others. Which could explain why my blog was the same.

It still doesn't really make any sense to me, but I think I'm forming some theories about the Fears. They never act exactly the same way twice. So it could be that they change to match the individual. It would make sense. If their goal is to scare people (though that's probably not their goal. I doubt anyone would be able to figure out their goals), everyone is afraid of different things. So repeating the exact same routine wouldn't freak everyone out.

That would also sort of explain why they only attack certain people. Some people talk about each Fear having "territories" that they work in. I think that's true, but in a more metaphorical sense. They have specific groups of people that they attack. Which would explain why there's evidence of multiple Fears here on one campus.

And speaking of the campus, I went around and took pictures today. I'd upload them, but the Internet here is slow and they're kind of boring. I especially took pictures of that closet door next to Professor Blakemore's office.

Settling In

I've moved in with Tallie for the summer. I still need to get all my stuff sorted through, so I'm going to be doing that all day today. I've done some searching and found some blogs I have yet to read. I will be going through those over the summer, and I will probably read some others over again.

Things I will be looking for:

• "Habits" and common targets for each Fear
• Reactions to Fears (symptoms of stalking and whatnot)
• How each Fear uses its agents and proxies
• What generally causes people to choose different roles (Runner, Fighter, Proxy)

That's about all I've got for now.

On campus, I will mostly be looking into Empty City stuff (possibly investigate that door). I'll also be keeping an eye out for Fear symbols (I actually haven't found any yet).

And that pretty much covers everything I'm going to be doing this summer.

Summer Plans

Alright, now that I have finals out of the way I can finally focus on more important things. Like what I'm going to be doing this summer, for example.

I realized that it would be very hard for me to continue my research from home. Especially since I live quite a ways away from the college. So I was thinking that I would just focus on Fear blogs for the summer and see if I can put together a little research project from that. That sounded kind of boring, though.

However, it turns out that Tallie lives in an apartment about ten minutes away. My parents were not expecting me to come home anyway, so I've decided that I'm going to be staying with Tallie over the summer. I doubt that there will be a lot going on since most of the students will be away, but I am thinking up some project that I can do to pass the time.

Also, I will be reducing the frequency of these posts. Probably one every week or so. Rather than coming up with something to talk about every day, I'll just write up summaries of my research progress.

Thus concludes my first year of college.

Results pt. 2

I did think about these two working together for some reason. However, it didn't really fit with either of them to really work together unless something significant was happening. I don't think a couple of missing college students fits that. I focused on them separately, and I think I've come up with something...

So on to the Blind Man:

This one does explain the missing memories. It is possible that Marianne and Niel were killed and the Blind Man just erased memories of both of them. In that case, we would need to figure out what killed them. Also, this doesn’t explain the phone calls or the note… Unless Marianne really wasn’t dead at first and the memories of her body were implanted and then taken away (that seems a bit useless though). Or what Niel said about being distracted and lying was true. However, this also doesn’t explain why Niel and Marianne are basically figments of my imagination at this point. As far as I know, the Blind Man doesn’t erase physical objects or information. He just deals in memories.

And finally, the Quiet:

This is the Fear I know the least about. It’s kind of hard to learn about something that is nothing. I’m not entirely sure how the Quiet works, so I’m going to be speculating a bit. This one seems like the best bet for this entire phenomenon. I know that the Quiet can touch individuals (evidenced by the Sine Corda), so it is possible that the Quiet took both Marianne and Niel. This would also explain why every memory and physical evidence of their existence is gone. And maybe the phone calls and note came about because the Quiet started with people’s memories of Marianne and slowly worked up from there.

That’s a terrifying thought. Slowly disappearing and being forced to watch while everyone you once loved forgets you ever existed.

This doesn’t explain why my blog was left untouched though. I’m going to go ahead and go with the Quiet as the Fear behind this. Again this is a lot of speculation, but it’s the most plausible explanation. If only I could remember what happened after that third phone call. As long as I don’t remember, I’m stuck.

Results

Alright, I’m just going to cut this down to what is related to my problem because I need to stop procrastinating and start studying for finals (speaking of which, I wonder what I’m going to do over the summer…)

First off, the Thoughtborn:

This could explain the phone calls since they have unlimited access to the Internet. The unlimited Internet access could also explain why I can’t find anything about Niel or Marianne in any online records. However, those are the only things the Thoughtborn explain. Disappearing photographs and memories aren’t covered.

Next, the Archangel:

This was my immediate thought when I heard about Niel’s situation. I suppose that the Archangel could explain the phone calls and the note but I can’t think of why he would pretend Marianne was alive and in danger. Maybe to set up a trap? I don’t really see any reason for it.

Also the Archangel still doesn’t explain the missing memories and the photographs and everything.

That is all I have for now. I still have to think through a couple things before I post the rest.

It’s Rambling Time!

I don’t really have anything else to do right now (well, other than study for finals, but I can push that off a bit), so I’m going to use this time to just spit out my thoughts about this whole situation.

I’ve gone through everything within my reach, and there is no information about Niel or Marianne Brown. The school’s records are empty (don’t ask about how I got into those). I went back to his “parents” and asked about him. They had no idea what I was talking about. All of the photos I spoke of before were gone. Even that recording of the conversation I’d transcribed here is gone without a trace of existence. This blog is the only thing that indicates that he even existed. Even my memories are gone.

The weird part is that I’m not missing any time. I remember the past fortnight perfectly besides Niel. I remember going to class, hanging out with Tallie. I saw the Avengers on the 4^th and the 12^th. It’s like those memories were just lifted, leaving the rest behind.

The only explanation I can think of is the Quiet. However, there are some problems with that I pointed out during my investigation. I’m going to see if I’ve missed anything in my research on the Quiet and the other possible Fears mentioned earlier. I’m also going to flesh out and organize my investigation a bit and see if that helps. I’ll report back when I’m done.

WTF!?!

After seeing Proxiehunter's comment, I just looked at the last several posts… I don’t know what the fuck they’re about. I don’t remember any of it except for the stuff about Tallie. Though now that I think about it, I may have interviewed a couple by the name of Brown, but I can’t remember why for the life of me.

I went through everything I could easily access right after I read those posts. Yearbooks, every school-related website, everything I could quickly go through. He’s not there. There is nothing about either a Niel or Marianne Brown.

My only conclusion would be that whatever happened to Marianne happened to Niel. It seemed like Marianne's ordeal went a lot slower though. I wish I could remember what the Hell happened on Friday.

I am in Mortal Danger

If nothing new comes up soon I honestly believe I will die of boredom. I must have been really lucky to get Nessa right off the bat, because despite all the ghost stories, this place seems to be basically devoid of Fear activity. It’s really disappointing.

I think I’ll just go out to the movies with Tallie again. I’ve already seen the Avengers twice, though. Any suggestions?
