First Chapter’s End

Nessa is dead.

I honestly didn’t expect this at all (silly me).

She didn’t die from any illness, unless she suddenly got extremely sick and keeled over right before a man [who has to remain unnamed for now, open case and all] came and beat her head in with an aluminum baseball bat.

That’s right, Nessa was murdered. They aren’t releasing anything about the guy that did it, but apparently he’s a student here as well. I expect I’m going to be questioned by the police pretty soon. 

I’m not quite sure how I’m feeling about this.

Coughing Again

That didn’t take long. Nessa came in for tutoring with a cough. She seems to have learned her lesson, though. She went to a free clinic (not the health center) as soon as it started. They told her it was just a cough, though. It’ll probably be worse in a couple of days.

Huh…

Apparently Nessa is going to another party tonight. I thought she was going to stop doing that and focus on her grades. I believe that is what she told her mother, anyway.

Well, maybe it’s normal for her to ignore her mother…

Back to Normal

Nessa’s back. She’s still pretty weak, but she’s back to doing school work. She keeps thanking me for visiting her in the hospital so much. So I guess I wasn’t overstepping any bounds. I was worried there for a while. I’m back to only being her tutor, but I’m going to be monitoring her as close as possible to see if anything new comes up.

I expect some more diseases to appear soon.

Update on Nessa

She’s doing better, actually. According to her doctor at the hospital, Nessa has an unusually bad case of pneumonia. Her condition suggests that her doctor isn’t an oathbreaker. Either that or they’ve got something up their sleeve. That seems unlikely, but I think we all know that I've been wrong before. She should be well enough to come home in a few days if I'm right.

Hospitalization

Nessa is in the hospital. She was admitted yesterday. I have gone and seen her; she looks terrible. Think of what you would expect a target of the Plague Doctor to look like, and there you have it. I also talked to her doctors there (is that overstepping my social bounds as just her tutor? I’m not really sure, but I was too curious to let it slide). They don’t know what is wrong quite yet, but they’re doing tests. I don’t have any reason to suspect that they are working for the Doctor as well.

I’m going to keep an eye out, but I’m starting to worry that I’m being a bit conspicuous…
